Fixing inaccurate AI answers about your brand: how to correct and prevent bad summaries
Inaccurate AI answers rarely show up as a dramatic mistake. It’s usually a small shift: a wrong label, a lazy comparison, a confident sentence that sounds believable enough to repeat.

Find the root cause
Most bad summaries come from one of two places.
1) Your own signals are inconsistent
This is the most common. Different pages describe your category differently. “Who it’s for” language is broad. The differentiator is implied instead of stated. Your copy is technically true, but it forces interpretation.
Answer engines do what buyers do: if the story is unclear, they guess.
Common inconsistency patterns:
Your homepage calls you one thing, your pricing page calls you another
Use cases are listed, but the “choose us when” is missing
“Enterprise” language shows up because of compliance or security pages, so you get labeled enterprise-only

2) External sources are doing the defining

A plain-language “what we do” statement near the top of your homepage (or a dedicated page): Not a tagline. A sentence that removes category ambiguity.
Audience or use case pages that make fit obvious: If you serve multiple segments, be explicit. If you don’t, be explicit about that too.
Capability pages that remove ambiguity: If buyers tend to assume you don’t support something, say it. If you’re often mistaken for a different type of tool, clarify what you are and what you are not.
One or two comparison pages that actually compare: Most comparison pages are vague. The useful version includes:

“choose them when”
how the decision changes by segment or constraints
Then make those pages easy to reuse accurately.
Answer engines pull chunks. If the truth is buried, it won’t travel. Put definitions early. Use headings that label what the section is doing. State the differentiator directly and repeat it where it matters.
If the wrong summary keeps repeating “enterprise only” or “most expensive,” don’t try to out-prompt it. Give the system cleaner language for the thing it keeps guessing about:

what drives scope or pricing in your category
what you win on, and what you don’t claim to win on
